Last Day

The official last day of school?

Somebody asked me today
how do you feel?
It's the last day

I couldn't smile
my happiness was emersed
in my inner pain

My want to be jubulant
suppressed my fatigue
my very smile
crooked trying to conceal my grimace

It's the last day
the last day of sleepless nights
last day of compounded demands
Last day of more burdens than time?

Yeah right,

It's the beginning of a new
set of teachers, superiors
colleagues, ups, downs
life is school,
there is only one

last day

Caribana Day

Caribana Day

Outside the band camps preparethe costumes are donned
the supplies are double checked
The steel drums are positioned
the DJ is setup the speakers are tested

The crowd starts to build
waiting for the first float
the sun salutes the crowd
in rays of appreciation

The barriers tremble with the weight
of the eager eyes

from a distance themusic is heard
the fast pace, the high hitsthe sweet lyrics
telling the story of a culture

Outside it's Caribana Time

Inside, I watch my baby daughter
sleep soundlyclutching her blanket

for us, it's Saturday

And to think I prayed today

And to think I prayed today

It's a daddy day

A parade of toys

the sounds of Steel pots and pans

Costumes of blankets and fabrics

Stories of Princesses

Maybe I'll attend next year

Unless she calls me first, lol

The Last Day of School

When I was a child
I thought as a child
acted as a child

Now that I am a man
I still feel childish
though I've done away with
childish things

I promised myself that
at the end of my college course
as my life started anew
I would document it in a blog
as much as I could

who would of thought
that it would be the
Artistic beauty of
her
Gentle Aura
that would draw me to my
first submission
again, I thank you
